Before we answer “what spelling words should a 3rd grader know?” It’s very essential to know why learning to spell words correctly is very important.
Having a good academic vocabulary and knowing words, enhances a child’s ability to learn, read and communicate. Words list that is mentioned in this post is those words that are used throughout the year in math, language, and science. Knowing them and understanding these words will make the child comfortable while learning these subjects. When your child knows these words adequately to use them, it will add precision and nuance to your child’s writing and presentations.
Having a dedicated notebook for spelling practice and practicing just 2-3 words a day, making 2-3 sentences using each word, helped my child to a great extent and I could personally recommend this practice. This way, the kid never feels the pressure and when he/she starts finding these words while learning Math or science, they feel super confident and that’s a huge plus, isn’t it? The list of words that I made is from those words which my son came across throughout the year and practicing them, help him a lot.
